What Will I See After Thread Vein Treatment?
The skin may be red and swollen immediately after treatment but this usually subsides within a few hours. Some veins will darken in colour initially but this resolves as the areas heals.
Adverse reactions are rare but may include a small blister or temporary lightening or darkening of the skin.
How Does Thread Vein Treatment Feel?
Treatment sensation varies but is often described as a ‘flick of an elastic band’. Cold air is used to help numb the area whilst being treated.
Am I Suitable For Thread Vein Treatment?
Best results are seen with people who have fine veins of less than 2.5mm and untanned skin. Facial, chest and upper leg thread veins are usually the most suitable for treatment by laser.
Ladies who are pregnant and persons with a suntan will not be treated at the Devon Laser Clinic.
How Does It Thread Vein Treatment Work?
The laser light passes safely through the skin and coagulates the blood in the targeted blood vessel. This causes the vein to break down and be reabsorbed into the surrounding cells.
The Nd:YAG laser emits light which is readily absorbed by blood vessels, heating them to point where they are destroyed. Following treatment, the vessels quickly clear as they are reabsorbed by the body, leaving little or no trace of the original lesion.
